What is a roadside inspection?

The FMCSA defines Roadside Inspections as “examinations of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) and/or drivers by Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) Inspectors.”

We all know that the most important thing for a carrier and a driver is actively being on the road.  Picking up or dropping off a load.  The las thing any carrier wants is time wasted on a DOT Roadside Inspection.  One of the best ways to avoid being stopped on the road is making sure your drivers are doing pre and post trip inspections so that they are aware of any issues prior to getting behind the wheel.

Being unprepared for an inspection can lead to a number of problems for both the driver and the carrier.  First and foremost, the potential violations received during a roadside inspections can lead to an increase in your BASIC scores which in turn and lead to DOT Safety Audits, DOT Compliance Audits, DOT Fines for Non Compliance and even being put Out-of-Service (OOS).  All of those can directly lead to a loss of revenue for the company.

The best way to avoid violations during a DOT Roadside Inspection is to be prepared.  CDL360 has a Compliance Management Software that will help store and manage all of your driver’s and vehicle files.  They have an FMCSA Audit Support System to help you focus on Safety and Compliance DQ Files.  Most importantly their Trucking Compliance Experts will help you avoid DOT Fines for Non Compliance.

Running and growing a business is hard enough, don’t let negative DOT Roadside Inspections hinder your growth or cost you money.  Let CDL Consultants make your day just a little bit easier by letting their CSA Compliance Consultants help you avoid and fight DOT Roadside Inspections.
